A perfect waste of money.. Review and Swatches: Chambor White UV Protector

I wasted around 600INR for this dud of a product. As per the SA [may her lying soul not rest in peace], this was supposed to be a great tinted moisturizer that will brighten up skin in 5mins and had the added bonus of SPF 29..Why 29???? No rounding off??

This did nothing...absolutely nothing... no brightening, no moisturizing and when I went out in the hot April sun of Chennai, within an hour I turned 2-3 shades darker! Above all, it had a freakish whitish cast, so I couldn't even try to use it as a primer - did Chambor think that people wanted to dress up like cheap Dracula's bride?

And for a company that charges kinda high for their products, the packaging is weirdly cheap and has no information on the company, the ingredients or anything.

Nothing more to add - Just check the pics below.

Product of Japan -so whats the role of GENEVA ??????

Look at that whitish cast!!!!

Review: Chambor Truly Lasting lipstick in shade Truly Terracotta 911

Today I am reviewing a staid color - Truly Terracotta from Chambor's Truly Lasting lipstick collection. You can read all about the collection here

The color is displayed as shown below in Chambor website.

You can buy this range online from Medplusbeauty.com at around 530 INR. I have not tried this shade in store nor do I have any other shades from this range. I got this one from Ankita [Corallista] on blog sale and  you can click on the link to check her review.

The bullet design is interestingly shaped but in the same old old boring black. That's one thing I liked about Deborah Milano's lipstick which I reviewed yesterday. I wish companies would try different colors, come on, we girls like fun! One big complaint here again is that expiry date is not mentioned, nor is the ingredient list given. Its very frustrating especially when you're spending 500-600 bucks to buy a product which you're not sure is expired or not! And considering we are putting this on our mouth, companies should be more responsible about such factors :(

The lipstick is a slim bullet and nicely shaped for easy application . I like the design very much. The color is a rich creamy toffee/coffee brownish shade that applies very smoothly.

It has a very coconutty scent that reminds me of some coconut based sweets I have tasted as a kid but honestly I would have preferred no scent or a fruity scent. It doesnt last long for me, so I really dont get the "Truly Lasting" part. Its a nice creamy lipstick which in itself kinda negates the "lasting" part, it stays around 2hours max for me without any heavy eating or drinking. Especially, if like me you apply a lip balm, then make sure you do the "apply once -bloat once - apply again-bloat again- apply again" technique to get a better staying coating.

The good thing is the pigmentation you get in 1 swipe [as you can see from the image], it immediately gives a nice creamy look on lips and I just love it. My lips are at times darkly pigmented so it helps that this lipstick gives a nice heavy coating in 1 swipe and doesnt settle into fine lines.

The color is good for office wears and on days you are feeling quite non-adventurous & would like to play safe. It is an all-skin-color type of lipstick and though at times, it makes me feel a bit nanny-ish I like it.
Make sure, your makeup is purrrrfect to go with this lipstick else it might highlight your problem areas.

Face makeup suggested: Formal office look with basic foundation/concealing and earthy-tones blusher [make sure its flawless]
Eye makeup suggested: Basic black smoky eye with a deeper twist for emphasis on eyes. Eyes should be your highlight with this lip color.

Will I buy again: I don't know, the price seems a bit steep and I like trying new shades and new brands but this is a nice one if you like sticking with a basic brown color from a nice brand.

Review and Swatches: Chambor Eye Shadow Trio in shade Bronze 16

I am not really a pro with eyeshadows but things change! Recently I was at a function where I met a friend who had transformed from Ugly Betty in high school to a highly fashionable executive[aint these ugly-duckling-to-pretty-swan very interesting] and she was telling me how she is thankful to the entire makeup industry for helping non-natural-artificial beauties like her. In fact, listening to her made me appreciate what the Beauty industry is doing- helping women like her and me who are not that naturally endowed with beauty to look good and gain confidence...

Anyways she gave me some quick tips on looking good for office everyday and told me to highlight eyes as the easiest way to look awake, bright and chic. So now I am trying out with various shades.

I got this one from Saravana Stores and I liked the set of colors. What Chambor says about the product:

Makeup is the Quickest and the Easiest way to play with your looks & what’s better than playing around with the eye shadows to get the most glorious looking eyes.
Let your eyes do the talking this season, with Chambor's set of 3 ultra smooth eye shadow colours. True to its name, the 'Trio Eye shadow' comes in 3 shades that beautifully play off each other to enhance your eyes.

Each shade set has been created keeping in mind a specific color combination which lets you experiment with various looks.

The casing is a totally unattractive black plastic one with the Chambor logo over it and no information on details like expiry date, ingredients etc! And about Chambor's claim of being heard of in Paris, Geneva and NY, I sincerely doubt and consider it as an outdated marketing trick.

I wish a brand like Chambor which is definitely at the higher end of the product price range, would really look into the packaging part. Attractive packaging is now a buzz word, look at the latest hit brands like Tarte or Sleek or Benefit.

The eyeshadows are however beautifully designed with the pretty Chambor rose logo, a nice mirror to pout at and a pretty useless brush applicator that is strictly emergency use only. The colors are very subdued and perfect for a day or office wear. From Left, the colors are a muted bronze shade, whitish silver shade and a delicate rosey-brown shade.

Shade 1: Bronzey Brown: Okay, the name is my own idea, Chambor has given no id for any of the pretty shades, this is a shimmery brown bronze shade that is a beautiful lid color. It can be applied alone for a day wear or party wear. My favorite of the lot.

Shade 2 Silver Streak: This is a brow highlighter in my opinion and can be used in the eye corners to give a bright eye effect but since the shimmer is a bit obvious, must be applied with a light hand for office wear.

Shade 3 Sandy pink:  I havent figured on how to properly use this shade without looking like I have an eye problem, this shade is too light for lid color and is mildly good as a brow color. I rather use it as a shimmer blusher and forehead highlighter.

Overall? For the price [INR 475] I guess this is a nice deal, giving 3 nice shades to try on. I would definitely like to try some other shades of the same range especially a black-smokey looking one..
